After a very successful event at the Malitzia Tavern in Tala, Paphos, Agapinor Lodge 8905 was pleased to give a donation of €650 to the Archangel Michael Hospice.

The Worshipful Master of the lodge W. Bro. Richard Platt along with the Charity Steward W. Bro Paul Penton presented the Donation to Mona Skordi the CEO of the Hospice.

United Grand Lodge of England’s Freemasons Hall in Great Queen Street, November 11th, 2023

On Saturday, November 11^th, 2023, the Master of the oldest Lodge in Cyprus, St. Paul’s, Evripides Nicolas and eighteen of his lodge members visited Beneficentia Lodge on the occasion of an Initiation in Room 17 at of the United Grand Lodge of England’s Freemasons Hall in Great Queen Street.

What made this a special occasion for all present was the spirit and warmth with which the Master of Beneficentia Lodge having opened the Lodge, then allowed the Master of St Paul’s to take the chair and initiate his biological older brother Andreas Nicolas, with the assistance of St Paul’s brethren who conducted the entire ceremony. The effort by all ritualists to prepare and deliver an excellent and flowing ritual (without the need for any prompting) not only gave the candidate the best possible first impression of freemasonry, but rewarded those present, including the Metropolitan Grand Inspector W.Bro. Keith Alexander, with what may very well be a once in a lifetime masonic experience which will be remembered for years to come.

During the November Regular meeting of St. Paul’s Lodge, the District Grand Master of Cyprus, Michael C. Hadjiconstantas, commended Evripides Nicolas for his initiative as well as the Brethren who assisted in this ceremony. He pointed out this was only possible by kind permission of the Metropolitan Grand Inspector and the brotherly love and understanding of the Master and brethren of Beneficentia Lodge.

On July 9TH. 2023, Zenon 18 Lodge Nr 9818 held a remarkably successful Ladies Night which took place in the beautiful gardens of the WM residence at Pareklisia.

The event was attended by more than 100 brethren and guests, present were also the DGM and representatives of the Board of Trustees of Theotokos Foundation- Amerikos Argyriou.

A sumptuous buffet was prepared by Pizza Mia – Ristorante Italiano and the excellent wine, courtesy of M H Alithoinos Ltd, was adorned by a S&C label which was designed especially for the night. A live band kept everyone entertained till the early hours of the morning.

This year’s Master’s Charity is in support of the Theotokos Foundation – Amerikos Argyriou, an Institution which for over 50 years has been providing shelter, education, day-care and love to children of special needs. The institution was founded by the late Dr Amerikos Argyriou, a philanthropist and pioneer Paediatrician who established the Charity Centre of Preventive Paediatrics in Limassol, which played the premier role in pre-natal diagnostics in Cyprus.

The net proceeds of the event amounted to €7000 and graciously the DGM RW Bro Michael Hadjiconstantas vouched that the District Benevolent Fund shall offer an amount which may assist in raising the collections nearer to the targeted figure of €10000.

The collection was donated to the Foundation for the purpose of upgrading the fire prevention and safety standards as well as for the purchase of much needed equipment, by the foundation’s day care center.

Aphrodite Hills Golf Club, Paphos 28 May 2023, 08:30 am

On Sunday, 29 May 2023, the District Gand Lodge of Cyprus hosted its third annual Peter Lowndes Open Cup Golf Tournament, at the Aphrodite Hills Resort, a prestigious golf course overlooking the Mediterranean Sea.

The event was attended by 32 golfers from the club membership as well as from various lodges in Cyprus and abroad, including the Past Pro Grand Master Peter Lowndes, who flew in from London to join the festivities. Amongst the special quests were the Vice Air Marshal Peter ……. and last year’s overall winner Phil Mallion also took part in the tournament.

The tournament was a remarkable success, raising a substantial amount for SPAVO, an organization which supports victims of domestic violence and abuse in Cyprus. The charity provides shelter, counselling, legal aid, and other services to those in need.

After the game, the participants accompanied by 77 persons, Freemasons, families, and guests, enjoyed a delicious awards buffet lunch at the clubhouse, where the winners received their trophies and prizes. The champion of the 2023 Peter Lowndes Open Cup Golf Tournament was Patric Carter, Aphrodite Hills Golf Club member.

 The Pro Grand Master congratulated the organizers the players and the sponsors for their generosity and sportsmanship, and expressed his gratitude for the warm hospitality he always receives when he visits Cyprus. He also praised the charity work of the District Grand Lodge of Cyprus and encouraged everyone to continue supporting this worthy cause. The event ended with a toast in honor of the Past Pro Grand Master, one of the great Pro Grand Masters of the United Gand Lodge of England and an ardent supporter of Free masonry in Cyprus.
